Q&A: Logato sometimes prefers soccer

Carol Logato is one of two seniors on the University of South Dakota women’s volleyball team. She plays libero and sometimes outside hitter for the Coyotes.

She is a Political Science major and Spanish minor from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After transferring to USD her junior year from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas Logato leads the team in digs with 349  so far this season, including a season high of 32 digs against SDSU on Oct. 3.

Jilanne Doom: Who is the one sports team you will always cheer against no

matter what?

Carol Logato: Argentina soccer. I absolutely hate them; and SDSU.

JD: If you had to choose one store to spend all your money at, where would it be?

CL: Any athletics store, something like Nike or Finish Line.

JD: Are you a morning person or a night owl?

CL: It depends. During the school year I’m a morning person but during breaks, I cannot go to sleep before four in the morning.

JD: What is an American cultural difference that sticks out to you?

CL: The size of food dishes. Everything people eat here is big.

JD: What is your least favorite part or drill at

volleyball practice?

CL: Conditioning -I like sprints but not long

distances.

JD: What is the last book you read?

CL: “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. He’s a

Brazilian author.

JD: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

CL: A volleyball player.

JD: Who has been your favorite professor at USD so far?

CL: Mary-Pat Bierle and Betty Smith are my favorite Political Science professors. But Teresa Piper and Cristine Djerf are my loved ones from the Spanish department.

JD: What is your current favorite song?

CL: Sure Thing by Miguel.

JD: What is your favorite sport to play other than volleyball?

CL: Soccer. Sometimes I like it more than volleyball.

JD: What is your all-time favorite candy?

CL: Both Three Musketeers and Milky Way.

JD: What is your favorite hobby?

CL: Going to the beach and playing volleyball with friends. I don’t really get to do that around here.

JD: Who inspires you most?

CL: My dad and my mom.
