Senior James Payer II stood on the stage in Slagle Auditorium Tuesday night, anxious because his name hadn’t been called yet. Then, Payer was selected as the final member of the Dakota Days king and queen candidates.
“I’m flabbergasted and honored,” Payer said after the ceremony. “This has been a very humbling experience just being nominated. I love (the University of South Dakota) and I feel exhilarated and week.”
Horn said she is looking forward to the rest of the week now that the finalists have been announced.
“I’m hoping to have a lot of fun and go to all the events. I want to support Dance Marathon as well as the other organizations throughout the week,” Horn said.
