In the Know & In the Dark 11/9/11

IN THE KNOW: President Abbott, SGA President Michels and the Coyote Statue Committee finally picked the winner of the Coyote Statue competition.

IN THE KNOW: Val Hoeppner from the Freedom Forum Diversity Institute teaching a  great class on mobile journalism to a select group of students. The students developed a lot of new skills, and a fear of facial recognition software.

IN THE DARK: The USD firewall. Why does it refuse to let mobile devices stay on the Internet for more than 10 minutes at a time?

IN THE KNOW: The second Occupy event in Vermillion. Will you go for three?

IN THE DARK: The lack of healthy food options on campus. Do we really need a Taco Bell or Chick-fil-A in the MUC?

IN THE KNOW: The Vermillion emergency services response to the Stringfellow non-fire. It was a little overzealous, but better safe than sorry.

IN THE DARK: Pizza at every event involving students. Yes, we like pizza, but no, we don’t want to eat it every day.

IN THE KNOW: Smartphones and everything they can do.

IN THE DARK: The never-ending debate over smoking policy on campus. Is there going to be a resolution every year?

IN THE KNOW: One-act plays at USD. They’re a great showcase of the talented Theatre Department.
