THE RANT: Dear Everyone Who Hates Mondays

Dear Everyone Who Hates Mondays,

How many of you every Monday morning, after a great weekend, wish to not have school?

I will tell you right now, that I am definitely one of those who does not enjoy getting up on those early Monday mornings. If you are like me, and you just cannot put a smile on your face, you can be sure that Monday has arrived.

Every Monday when I wake up, I wish that I did not have class so I could spend all day in bed. My biggest wish is to skip this day and sleep it away. Classes on Monday should be canceled completely! Four–day weeks would be more than enough for students to finish all of their previous commitments, do their long essays, and on top of that they will have more time for their social lives.

I consider Monday as the beginning, and as we all know, every beginning is hard, so having to go to school on Monday makes everything seem that much harder. Having Monday off will bring students more free time to prepare for Tuesday, and finish all homework that will be due that week. Also, after two days of a great weekend, we definitely need a day off. Students have to catch up with friends and share interesting weekend stories, and when is a better time than Monday? If I am completely honest, I believe that Monday dislikes itself, too.

Even though I understand that Monday cannot be erased from the weekly calendar, I still have my hopes that at least school on Monday can be eliminated.

For all of you who cannot put a smile on your faces when you realize that Monday is actually here and that school will start in less than hour, I understand you and I am telling you that that is permitted.

Since the situation is already determined and there is nothing else to be done, I hope you will find at least one thing that you absolutely love in which will make this day worth getting up for.

In the mean time, I will somehow try to make an agreement with Monday and tell him/her to come at a different time.

Sincerely,

Nina Barudzic,

four-day week fan
