BLOG: Farewell @USDSorostitute

“Are you in a sorority? You should probably tweet about how much you miss your sisters over the summer, its so precious…” Thank you for those words of wisdom @CondescendingCharlie. Thank you.

Due to the recent spike of condescending and/or sarcastic twitter accounts, Greek life has been taking a hit. Sororities are constantly being ripped a new one: The twitter accounts get specific and down to the nitty gritty. (I’ll let you look for yourself.)

The most entertaining for a short time, (They obviously couldn’t handle the pressure of constantly being humorous,) was @USDSorostitute. They tweeted general, pathetic things just bashing sorority life. My personal favorite was, “Drinking wine in my room is the only thing making Monday better. Can’t wait for chapter meeting tonight. #sorrynotsorry”

Fo’ real? A) we can’t drink in the house and B) no one would do that if they have half a brain. Are you implying that we have half a brain? Check the GPA scores you “geed.”

When a new twitter account appears and begins mocking and ridiculing sorority life – YOU ARE NOT CREATIVE. It’s been done and will pitifully continue to be. But allow me to be hypocritical for a moment and say that even though they are all far from accurate, they are hilarious!

This summer I began following @CondescendingCharlie on Twitter and I found it to be comical and the funniest one I read was mocking my own sorority. If the worst thing that someone can make fun of the sororities for our poses in photos and the fact that we love our sisters, I don’t really see the harm in that.

Now, yes, I’m not naïve. I realize that there are far worse out there, but haters gonna hate. No matter, it’s a great life to be young, wild, and Greek.
