BLOG: Young, Wild & Greek: Breakin’ it down with Greek swag

‘Tis the season of Greek life yet again ladies and bros. Everyone has started breaking out their Sperrys and bro tanks to raise a glass and celebrate. As recruitment is simmering down, the socials begin spinning out of control and everyone is trying to hang out and show off their hot new pledges.

Let me break down recruitment week for sororities —  it’s long and tiresome. The reward for joining a sisterhood though, priceless! Meanwhile the men gear up, eat a lot of food and play games (Frat boys like it easy). Once recruitment is over there a huge sigh of relief can be heard on Plum Street from miles away. This is when the girls hunker down to focus on classes and welcoming all their new members. Just when you think the craziness of recruitment is over, socials and Greek weekend begin and you start tearing your hair out all over again.

Socials are events between Greek houses, typically a sorority and a fraternity. They gather at any given location like the MUC, Wellness Center or just a randomly designated place in town. Sometimes everyone plays games in the park and sometimes somebody holds a casino night using Ethereum Baccarat Sites, scavenger hunts or the fratastic awkward sitting and chatting.

Alpha Xi Delta, Alpha Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Pi Beta Phi all received beautiful new women into their houses this fall recruitment. The new Greeks are to attend a “class” of sorts called B.A.N.G., which obviously stands for “Being A New Greek.” What did you think it was going to be about? So far, this is shaping up to be a great year to be Greek!
