@FakeJimAbbott identity revealed

Dear fellow USD students,
@FakeJimAbbott has been a blast, but know its goal was much more than just cracking jokes.
To be honest, it did pretty much start out that way.  I wanted to know if I could make a parody account on Twitter just like the rest of the big ones out there, but USD-related.  Since just about the best way to get followers on Twitter now-a-days is to throw around a few retweet-able jokes, I aimed for the funny bone of USD’s student population.
Whenever I brainstormed jokes while atop the porcelain throne, I constantly struggled with one internal debate: Is it possible to go too far?
Many other fake accounts out there have negatively targeted our student population in sacrifice of a joke.  Usually the results were disgusting and uncreative.  Sometimes the results were indeed hilarious, but at the cost of someone else’s ridicule.
A common aim was taken at Greek Life.  @USDsorostitute, @USD_FratDaddies and @CondyCharlie were three accounts I continuously wanted nothing to do with (FratDaddies has since been taken down).  They each singled out houses and groups, and they showed no class in attempting to spread negative stereotypes and bring down the Greek community.
Other tweets out there targeted the university with heavy doses of anger, sarcasm and sometimes even profanity.  If there is anyone you should be trying to send out positive messages for, it should be our school.  The more positive marketing for it out there, the stronger the school pride, the healthier our atmosphere and eventually the larger and better we will grow.
We all deserve a better class of Tweeters out there.  Feel free to crack jokes and push the envelope from time to time, but keep it at just that: sparse.  It’s not difficult to show some creativity!  I’ve seen it on countless occasions, and chances are if you’re agreeing with this, I’ve retweeted something great of yours.
And it is with trust in our student body’s ability to strive for a more positive twitter-verse out there that I will soon hang up my hat as @FakeJimAbbott.
I’ve decided to begin distancing myself from the account for several reasons.  More than enough people already know who runs the account.  Multiple people have shown interest in creating similar accounts, and they have shown great potential in doing so (correctly).  And my own creativity can only carry me so far – there are more people out there funnier than I am.
With that, I extend out my offer: tell me why you deserve to take over @FakeJimAbbott and I’ll hand over the keys.  Text me, message me, find me in person and talk with me, I don’t care, just do so quietly.  I do wish for this account to continue on, and I know there are more than enough qualified people out there to take it over.
Not interested in taking over the account?  Start your own!  Not a twitter fan?  Make your mark elsewhere!  Opportunities are all around you on campus.  Find your niche and make an impact. All I ask is that you maintain some standards and represent your university the way it deserves.
It’s been fun.  I hope you’ve all enjoyed the account, I know I have.
