USD volleyball goes 3-1 at UCA Tournament

The Coyotes volleyball team headed to Conway, Arkansas over the weekend looking to rebound off their 0-3 showing last weekend at the UND Classic in Grand Forks.  The Coyotes faced four teams in the University of Central Arkansas Tournament beginning Friday night with Arkansas-Pine Bluff. USD swept the Golden Lions three straight games to win the match 25-11, 25-16, and 25-18 to snap the losing streak.

Then came the hometown and undefeated team Central Arkansas where the Coyotes took the first set 22-25, but then fell three straight 25-17, 25-21, and 27-25, losing 3-1.

After splitting Friday night’s games, the Coyotes took on Jacksonville State and Jackson State on Saturday.

In the first game against Jacksonville State, the Coyotes dropped the first two sets 25-16, and 25-23. The Coyotes were able to reverse momentum, coming back to win three straight 31-29, 27-25, and 15-13 to win the match. USD was then able to easily dispose of Jackson State in four sets 25-15, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-16 to go 3-1 over the weekend.

After this weekend the Coyotes record now stands at 6-5.

USD will look to continue their win streak on Friday when they travel to Macomb, Ill. to take on conference foe Western Illinois.
