PostSecret to host event on campus

PostSecret will hold an event at the University of South Dakota Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in Aalfs Auditorium in Slagle Hall.

PostSecret is an ongoing community mail art project created by Frank Warren, in which people mail their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard. Certain secrets are selected and posted on the PostSecret website or are used for PostSecret’s books.

The concept of PostSecret is to have anonymous people submit a secret they had never

before revealed.

There are no restrictions on the type of secret; it only has to be completely truthful and never told before. Secrets range from admissions of sexual misconduct to criminal activities to embarrassing habits.

Warren believes the secrets are meant to be empowering to both the author and to those who read them. He claims the postcards are inspirational to those who read them by giving hope to people who identify with a stranger’s post.

Admission to the event is free and there will be a book signing afterwards at 8:30 p.m.
