School of business recognizes alumni

The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business recently honored students and alumni for their outstanding service and

support.

Sara Boyum of West Point, Neb., who graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, received the Outstanding Senior Award, while Corey Backer of Sioux Falls, S.D., a Master of Public Administration spring graduate, was honored with the Outstanding Graduate Student Award.

Three alumni also received distinguished service awards.

Lt. Gov. Matt Michels was presented the Alumnus – Service to South Dakota Businesses Award. Michels, a Vermillion native, received his Bachelor of Science in health services administration from USD and is also a graduate of the USD School of Law.

Scott O. Jones of Pierre, S.D., was honored with the Alumnus – South Dakota Business Person of the Year Award. Jones is president and CEO of Delta Dental of South Dakota.

Doyle Knudson of Paradise Valley, Ariz., who is chair of the USD Foundation, was presented with the Alumnus – Service to USD Award.
