Simmons receives PKP honor award

A University of South Dakota student recently received an award from the nation’s oldest and largest collegiate honor society.

Jason T. Simmons, a graduate student in the MBA Health Services Administration program in the Beacom School of Business, received the 2012 Love of Learning Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Simmons, who received a Bachelor of Science in pre-professional health sciences from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, S.D., in 2011, is one of 140 recipients of the Love of Learning Awards that provide students with $500 to cover the costs of post-baccalaureate education or professional development. More than 1,000 people applied for the fellowship.

Simmons is currently doing his practicum in health services administration at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
