USD-SDSU announce competition

The historic rivalry between the University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University just became a little more interesting.

Today, USD and SDSU officials announced a head-to-head athletic and academic competition between the two in-state rivals that will involve all sports and include athletes’ grade point average.

In partnership with the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and Feeding South Dakota, the formal yearly competition will be in effect during the current 2012-13 academic year.

This news comes two weeks before the Coyotes’ first football matchup with the Jackrabbits since 2003 and just days after the USD volleyball team’s second consecutive sweep of SDSU.

The announcement was made at the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council Office in Sioux Falls.
