BLOG: Halfway progress report

In the words of Bon Jovi: “WOAH, we’re halfway there!” But I’m not “Livin’ on a Prayer” — I’m halfway to growing out my hair.

This is my halfway progress report. The ultimate goal: Grow out my pixie to just-above-shoulder-length by my graduation, this coming spring.

Nearly 17 weeks ago, I got my last real haircut and decided to embark on a hair-venture to grow out my pixie. Bieber bangs, sideburn blues, a mini ponytail, mullet, one trim and a new hair stage later, my hair is nearly to Stage 5: “The ‘No Country for Old Men’, creepy-as-all-hell, Javier Bardem (as Anton Chigurh) Bowl Cut.” All that’s left after that is Stage 6: “Normalcy, Sweet Normalcy.”

In the past 17 weeks, my hair has grown a decent amount. Check out the before and after photos below. The before photo was taken in early September. The after photo was taken earlier this week.

Over winter break I will probably get my first shaping. If that is the case, I will take photos and update this blog.

Until then, my hair maintenance plan will go as follows: I will wait until my hair is sufficiently atrocious-looking before I actually get it shaped. Seeing as my sideburns have grown out to the point of almost completely covering my ears, a shaping should be in my near hair maintenance future. I’m not sure what week it will take place, but it will definitely happen over winter break. Hey, maybe I will ring in the New Year with my first shaping and a fresh new ‘do.

While waiting for that day to come, I will have friends trim my hair if it starts looking too mullet-ish.

Have a wonderful winter break!
