Coyotes look to bounce back against Peru State

The University of South Dakota’s women’s basketball team is gearing up to take on Peru State Dec. 15 in Vermillion.

The team recently lost to Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan. on Dec. 9 but is excited by the opportunity for victory against a weaker Peru State team.

“Right now, we are focusing on playing more consistent. We want to go out there and give it our all, every night. We are focusing on being Coyotes and working as a team,” said head coach Amy

Williams said.

The Bobcats are currently 4-7 after recently breaking a five game losing streak. The Coyotes are hoping to send the team on another losing streak beginning Dec. 9

“We took a couple of days off, but now we are ready to go,” junior forward Polly Harrington said. “We are really going to be focusing on making good defensive choices. We want to attack their defense and not let their offense get into our paint.”

The team is excited as always, to be taking to its home court.  Fan support is important to the team, especially over the holiday break.

“We want to play the same as we do on the road, but we want to perform well in front of our fans,” sophomore guard Nicole Seekamp said.

“Having fan support is great and we are always excited to play in the Dome.”

After the team plays Peru State, they will head on the road to go up against Utah State and then Boise State, followed by a short break before moving into conference play.
