SGA votes on budget committee, Dakota Days

The Student Government Association senators voted on a new budget committee and SGA Dakota Days Royalty nominations during their March 26 meeting.

They discussed providing food for students during the March 28 women’s basketball game in the DakotaDome.

The new budget committee was announced before it was voted on and passed unanimously.

“We wanted to have a mixture of people from different colleges, and new and old senators,” Business Manager Kara Fischbach said.

Senators nominated Erik Muckey and Lexy Schuman as SGA’s nominees for Mr. Dakota Days and Miss Dakota Days, respectively.

Senators agreed to fill out an application to request that Aramark cater pizza for students attending the women’s basketball game. USD will be hosting McNeese State University in the semifinal game of the Women’s Basketball Invitational.

President Erik Muckey also reiterated his intention to follow through with his election promises of making SGA more accessible and connecting USD to the Vermillion community.

“This year, as a senate, I hope we get back to basics,” Muckey said, explaining he wanted the senate to be “efficient, friendly, and approachable.”
