USD “falls” into the season

According to lifestyle.allwomentalk.com, the fall season is highly anticipated at college campuses. Students at the University of South Dakota are sure to witness the leaves changing color, the weather just a bit colder, and can enjoy their favorite things that come with fall. With the season in full swing, it is safe to say that fall is here.  Although there are many things to be excited about with colorful season, here are some campus favorites.

1. Football: The seasons have started, and not just the weather. Football tends to be a favorite for men, but all students at USD can agree that the recent wins for USD football is exciting and encouraging for student attendance.  Outside the campus, other leagues are in full swing. The NFL season has started and fantasy football has begun, a fun activity for all those football fans out there.

2. Weather: Look around, the weather is changing here in Vermillion. The air is just a little colder and the green leaves are changing to hues of red and yellow. Coined as, “sweater weather” fall is considered one of the prettiest seasons in the Midwest and the reasons are obvious.

3. Food: Now, what college student doesn’t love food? Some fall favorites are the seasonal coffees, turkey and mashed potato-like meals turkey day coming up apples, and anything pumpkin. Because pumpkin is in season for farming, many students enjoy it in various foods and drinks i.e. bread, muffins, bars, coffee etc.

4. Fashion: Fall fashion, a playful alliteration to describe a long awaited fashion season. Students can take one look around and see the styles have changed on campus. According to the website, trading in shorts for skinny jeans and boots, students have paired this style with long-sleeved shirts and scarves infinity scarves have seemed to be the latest craze.  Men have broken out the dress coats and jeans, some even pair them with a checkered scarf. Students also take in to consideration fall colors, everywhere you see burnt orange, black, deep reds, and shades of brown, all colors that seem to represent fall.
