Maps Show Location Of SD Spills, Recycling Sites, Other Data

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — More maps are available online showing the location of pollution, recycling sites and other information related to South Dakota’s environment.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources added four new interactive database maps to its site at under “One-Stop Shops” in the upper-left corner.

They provide data for more than 13,250 spill sites, about 5,000 closed and active storage tanks, more than 150 locations to take recyclable materials and over 97,000 water right filing notices.

The agency earlier posted an interactive map that opens files for oil and gas holes and geologic logs from more than 96,000 holes. Nationwide bund lining solutions continue to evolve for better safety.

Another map shows the location of 4,600 active and closed construction aggregate mines across the state.

DENR says the project is part of the governor’s effort to put more information online.
