Crop tops a hot trend for season

Transitioning into the spring season, the hot trend on the runway is the crop top.

Crop tops are available in all sorts of styles and prints in countless magazines and stores across the United States. Tops come in a more flowy style as well as form-fitted.

There are solid-colored, patterned, crocheted, laced, haltered, strapless, long-sleeved, bedazzled and fringed crop tops.

The list goes on. Basically, if a person can name it, it can be found in the form of a crop top.

Before the look was popular among the young and trendy, crop tops could be seen at summer music festivals and may have been labeled as ‘totally hipster.’

With the emergence of so many styles, bohemian does not have to be the only term to describe someone wearing an outfit that featured a crop top since almost any form of look can be created with the item.

Although models can be seen showing off toned midsections, really any body shape or size is able to pull this look off.

Even if not entirely comfortable with exposing the midriff, wearing a longer top and trying a high-waisted bottom would make the look work. That way, less skin is shown, but the bottom would come in at the smallest part of the waist.

One of my favorite looks is the ensemble of a solid top with a floral-printed maxi skirt for a casual day. As an ode to the lovely Carrie Bradshaw, a fun top and a longer ballerina-inspired tulle skirt can be worn for a more formal affair.

Paired with a skirt — pencil, maxi or flowy, shorter or longer — or pants, it is possible to look like someone who just walked off a runway and onto the sidewalks of Vermillion. Heels or wedges can be worn to create an elongated look.

Keeping it simple with accessories as the top is a pretty big statement in itself.

Depending on the occasion, topping off a crop top look with either a jean jacket or blazer can quickly transform an outfit.

If feeling daring and willing to make an even bolder statement, a matching top and bottom duo of print or the same color can prove to be a smash outfit.

Hair can be tossed up into a chic top knot or let down in those beachy waves of a long bob women so often envy.

Try out these crop top styles for a real summer feeling.
