More than 15 events have been planned for Earth Week 2014 in the Vermillion community and on the University of South Dakota campus. The Volante will be featuring live coverage from a number of events throughout the week.

Monday, April 21: 

Screening of “A Fierce Green Fire” @ Farber Hall, 3-5 p.m.

Books in Context @ the Vermillion Public Library, 7-8 p.m.

The Mayor’s Earth Day Proclamation @ the City Council meeting, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, April 22 (Earth Day): 

Bike/Walk to Work/Class Day, all day

USD Sustainability Fair @ the Muenster University Center, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Frances Moore Lappe discussion @ Farber Hall, 2-3:15 p.m.

Live Music @ MUC ballroom, 6-7 p.m.

Lappe Lecture @ MUC ballroom, 7-8:30 p.m.

Lappe Reception and Book Signing @ MUC ballroom, 8:30-9:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 23:

Events at Austin, Jolley, middle school and high school, all day

Pecha Kucha Vol. 1 @ MUC Pit Lounge, 6-7:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 24:

Trash Pick-Up and Recycling Sort, 3-5 p.m.

Downtown Sustainability Fair, 5-7 p.m.

Friday, April 25:

Heikes Family Farm Open House, 1-6 p.m.

Saturday, April 26:

Guided Nature Hike @ North Alabama Bend, 10 a.m. – noon

Herb Walk @ Grace and Harry Freeman’s house, 2-4 p.m.

Monday, April 28

Community Panel, Planning and Potluck @ Vermillion Area Arts Council, 6-9 p.m.
