RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota Army National Guard unit based in Rapid City is scheduled to deploy to Kuwait this summer.

The 162 members of the Guard’s 155th Engineer Company received an alert that they’re scheduled for deployment in August. The unit is mobilizing in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, New Dawn and Noble Eagle.

Members of the 155th provide engineering support in building base camps and internment facilities. They can also work on constructing, repairing and maintaining other infrastructure.

The unit is scheduled to report to Fort Bliss in Texas to complete several weeks of theater-specific training before deploying.
