Watertown Man Gets 50 Years For Role In Botched Robbery

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A 19-year-old Watertown man who participated in a botched robbery that resulted in the slaying of a marijuana dealer in Sioux Falls will spend 50 years in prison.

Brian Anderson was sentenced Monday to 80 years in prison, with 30 years suspended. Anderson earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and manslaughter.

Anderson was one of two men who attempted to rob 20-year-old Jordan LeBeau in 2013. Drugs and over $88,000 were found in LeBeau’s home after the shooting that also wounded his father.

Anderson admitted to instructing his accomplice, Trevor Kruthoff, to shoot LeBeau. Kruthoff was sentenced to 40 years in prison in December.

Authorities say Kevin Rice, of Dells Rapids, planned the robbery and gave Anderson and Kruthoff the weapon. Rice was sentenced to 60 years in prison Friday.
