People of the Pack: Nicole Jones

Nicole Jones is a first-year at USD. She is studying business with hopes of doing human resources after graduation.

NK: What’s one of the hardest things that you’ve had to go through?

NJ: Losing a family member was probably the hardest.

NK: What family member did you lose?

NJ: It was my nephew. He passed away from SIDS, sudden infant death syndrome, when he was three months old. And that was really tough on my family.

NK: How did you handle it?

NJ: It was tough, because he was only three months old so it’s not like I’ve known him for a long time. As I’ve grown older, I value more the time with my nephews.

NK: What’s your favorite memory of him?

NJ: I would say during the summer, he was born in the summer and just being outside with him. I remember sitting out on the deck with my family and holding him when he was just born.
