Free or discounted items available for college students

Ever wonder what the benefits of being a college student are (besides getting that degree, of course)?

Believe it or not, there are many opportunities students can take advantage of to receive free or discounted items just for being a college student.

Below is a list of a few items students at USD can enjoy without spending an arm and a leg to enjoy.

Spotify

This site lets you listen to music for free, and if you buy the premium package you get to listen to your music without all of the ads. When you purchase the package as a student, you can receive a 50 percent discount on your monthly bill.

Amazon Student

This is a subscription to Amazon Prime and provides you with free two-day shipping for six months, and then a discounted price later on. All you have to do is sign up with your student email and provide a graduation date. Aside from your unlimited purchasing power, this is a great resource to use around the beginning of the semester when you want to compare prices for textbooks from our bookstore with the prices of books online.

Food

Depending on the location, many fast food restaurants offer discounts to students. Here are some that are near Vermillion: 10 percent off Buffalo Wild Wings at the Sioux Falls and Sioux City locations, 15 percent off Chipotle and 15 percent off TCBY. Keep in mind it depends on the location, so simply bring your ID and see if restaurants honor any discount.

Apple

When you purchase an Apple MacBook, show them your student ID and receive $300 off.

Microsoft Office

USD offers its students the Microsoft Office suite for free. All you have to do is provide your student email.

There are many more options for students to receive free or discounted items just for being a college student. I don’t know about you, but as a broke student, I certainly like the words “free” or “discount.”
