USD soccer team earns first-ever spot in Summit League Tournament

The USD women’s soccer team defeated Fort Wayne 2-0 on Sunday in Indiana thanks to a pair of goals from junior forward Corey Strang, earning them a spot in the Summit League Tournament.

They finish fourth in the conference for regular season play, at 5-3, and will face top seeded North Dakota State on Thursday in Brookings.

The other semi-final game will be played by second seed Oral Roberts and third seed South Dakota State, with the winners from Thursday playing Saturday for the conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

USD will have an uphill battle in the tournament, as its three conference losses came against the three other teams in the tournament. The Coyotes are currently on a four-game winning streak.
