USD theatre department performs one-act plays

On Friday night, the USD theatre department put on a series of three one-act plays in the Arena Theatre in the Fine Arts building. The plays were a drama called “And Others,” written by Dennis Bush, a dark comedy called “Wanda’s Visit” written by Christopher Durang and a comedy called “Appearances” by Tina Howe.

The plays all lasted less than an hour and were directed by USD students.

Megan Weidner, a fine arts graduate student and director of “Wanda’s Visit,” said she hoped people would enjoy the performance.

“It is a dark comedy, it’s goofy and silly and sort of out there at points, but it also can be really poignant at some points between all the characters, and they all have different relationships between each other,” she said. “I want people to come and have a good time, but also realize that this is still life. Even though it seems really outlandish, there is still real life going on in these peoples’ lives.”
