C’s get degrees

The idea of “always doing more” and “bigger is better” is unrealistic. Mediocre is medium, average if you will. Most people are average, they are common and there is nothing wrong with being mediocre.

Social media, news and advertisements have constantly been pushing this idea of “extraordinary.” We are constantly being shown other people doing great things. We see celebrities in movies, politicians winning elections and so much more.

Throughout your entire life, you have been told you have to be great or you are not going to be enough. There is this idea that people need to get the best of everything. They need to get the best grades, most expensive clothes, the tastiest food.

Being average doesn’t mean settling. It doesn’t mean you are going to stop improving yourself, but don’t over-exhaust yourself trying to be perfect. Being average is normal and it is a stupid idea to base your worth on being excellent at everything you do. You should not strive for doing average work, but if it turns out to be the end result, there is nothing to be ashamed of.

There is no need to prove yourself to others. Even people who are great, people who are praised as being the best of what they do, probably spent years perfecting what they excel in. Average has recently been thought of as failure and it is just not true.

Everyone needs to learn that doing the best they can is good enough. It is important to accept mediocrity. After all, C’s get degrees.

Some people are going to be better at things than you. If it is something you can work on, do it. If it is something you won’t be able to do, stop putting yourself down and move on.

After all, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Even if you are considered great at one thing, you are probably going to be average at everything else.

Ultimately, people should do things they enjoy. It doesn’t matter if you’re average at it, or even bad at it. If you enjoy an activity, do it.
