Tribal Official: 4 People Hurt In Roof Collapse In Storm
CHERRY CREEK, S.D. (AP) — A tribal official says a roof of a building collapsed on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation during a storm, injuring four people.
Bobbi Jo Kraft, administrative officer at Cheyenne River Law Enforcement Center, tells the Argus Leader ( ) that the building’s roof came down around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Cherry Creek. Kraft said the 40 people who were temporarily trapped inside were part of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, which was having its monthly meeting.
Kraft said some people reported a tornado caused the roof to collapse. National Weather Service meteorologist Susan Sanders told the newspaper that officials couldn’t confirm whether it was a tornado, and that no one reported seeing one.
