Governor Appoints New Judge In South Dakota’s Third Circuit
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Gov. Dennis Daugaard is appointing special assistant attorney general Pat Pardy to a state judgeship.
Pardy will fill the vacancy created by the retirement in June of Third Circuit Judge Tim Tucker.
Pardy, of Howard, serves as chief legal counsel for the state Department of Corrections. The University of South Dakota School of Law graduate previously has worked in private practice, as a public defender and also as a deputy state’s attorney. He served for three years on the South Dakota Bar Commission.
Pardy also is a colonel with the South Dakota National Guard, and has served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
The Third Circuit includes the counties of Beadle, Brookings, Clark, Codington, Deuel, Kingsbury, Grant, Hamlin, Hand, Jerauld, Lake, Miner, Moody and Sanborn.
