Suspect Accused Of Hitting Man With Toilet Tank Lid Arrested

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Police in Sioux Falls say they have arrested a man suspected of hitting another man with the lid of a toilet tank and stabbing him with scissors.

Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens says 18-year-old Bruce Godfrey Jr., of Sisseton, faces various charges including aggravated assault in connection with the Monday incident.

Clemens says Godfrey stabbed the 34-year-old victim in the shoulder, chest and neck. Clemens says the victim’s head was also bleeding because Godfrey had hit him with a toilet tank lid.

It’s unclear if Godfrey has an attorney who could comment on the charge. Records show he is being held at the Minnehaha County Jail.

Clemens says the victim told officers he had no recollection of why he was attacked. Clemens says all parties involved had been drinking.
