2nd South Dakota Brother Sentenced In Child Rape Case
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The second of two western South Dakota brothers accused of raping a girl younger than 10 more than a decade ago has been sentenced.
Twenty-seven-year-old Blake Klynsma, of Rapid City, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape last November and on Tuesday was given a 15-year suspended prison sentence, 10 years of probation and about six months on electronic monitoring.
Judge Robert Gusinsky said a plea for mercy from the victim in the case was an important factor in his decision.
Klynsma’s brother, 30-year-old David Klynsma, of Spearfish, pleaded guilty last June to having sexual contact with a child and was sentenced to about six months in jail and 7 ½ years of probation.
