Discarded Ashes Listed As Cause Of South Dakota Wildfire
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — State fire officials say discarded ashes from a stove or fireplace caused a wildfire in southwestern South Dakota last weekend.
The South Dakota Wildland Fire agency says the Aero Road Fire near Rockerville consumed slightly more than 16 acres. That’s less than a square mile.
Crews began battling the fire Saturday and had it fully controlled Monday afternoon.
No one was hurt and no evacuations were ordered, but there was some property damage to ornamental trees and lawns.
