Eagle Butte Woman Pleads Guilty To Murder In Child’s Death
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — An Eagle Butte woman accused of killing a toddler by kicking him in the head has pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge.
Twenty-one-year-old Jordyn Blue Coat was accused of angrily kicking a 20-month-old child she was caring for last October, when the boy got ahold of a dirty diaper and made a mess.
Authorities say the kick pushed the child’s head into a TV stand. The child lost consciousness and died in a Rapid City hospital the next day.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Blue Coat also is known as Jordyn Swan. She could face up to life in prison when sentenced on April 27.
