Rapid City Man Gets Probation For Role In Girlfriend’s Death
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Rapid City man has been sentenced to a month of house arrest and two years of probation for his role in the death of his girlfriend last summer.
Nineteen-year-old Dylan Roth was charged with felony hit and run after authorities say he accidentally ran over 18-year-old Erika Weisz with his truck last August outside the home of Roth’s parents.
Roth’s attorney says Weisz didn’t have obvious injuries and refused medical attention. She collapsed hours later and died from internal bleeding.
Mother Vicki Weisz says Roth should have done more for her daughter after the accident. She says Roth’s sentence does not give her closure.
Defense attorney Randy Connelly says Roth is a victim, too, because he will have to live with what happened the rest of his life.
