Sioux Falls Officials Considering Restricting Food Trucks
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Officials in Sioux Falls are considering restrictions on where and when food trucks could operate downtown.
Neighborhood development coordinator Adam Roach tells the Argus Leader ( ) that the city doesn’t have regulations for food trucks, which in recent years have become more popular. He says regulations would help protect investments made by “brick-and-mortar” restaurants.
The new rules will set the hours of operation for the trucks.
Sioux Falls council members will eventually hear a proposed ordinance.
Roach says about 25 food vendors have peddler licenses and about a half-dozen of them operate at different times downtown.
