Bill To Fund School Of Mines Renovations Headed To Governor
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A bill that would allocate millions in bonds to renovate the Chemistry Building at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is headed to the governor’s desk.
The Rapid City Journal reports the measure would appropriate $6 million in bonds to renovate labs, classrooms and other parts of the building.
Architectural plans are drawn up and construction will begin this fall, if Gov. Dennis Daugaard signs the bill.

The renovation plans include refurbishing 7,000 square feet of the approximately 26,000 square-foot building, including three research labs, a teaching lab, support spaces and faculty offices.
The work would also bring the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
