Standoff With Armed Suspect Over At Aberdeen Hotel
ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A standoff between authorities and a man who locked himself inside a hotel room in Aberdeen has ended after more than 14 hours.
The American News ( ) reports the man was arrested at 9:37 p.m. after authorities used tear gas to force him out of the room.
Capt. Eric Duven of the Aberdeen Police Department tells the newspaper the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
No one was hurt during the incident, which forced players and fans of the state Class B basketball tournament who had planned to stay there to find other accommodations.
Authorities said earlier that the 37-year-old man was wanted in connection with local crimes and had a handgun.
