PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard is ordering flags on state property to be flown at half-staff Wednesday in honor of President Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated 150 years ago.
Daugaard’s order comes at the request of President Barack Obama. The president has declared Wednesday as a Day of Remembrance in Lincoln’s honor.
The flags are to be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. until sunset.
Lincoln was shot on the night of April 14, 1865, in Washington, D.C.
