LA Man Ordered To Pay Back Wages At South Dakota Businesses
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Los Angeles man has been ordered to pay more than $8,000 in back wages and overtime pay to former employees at his businesses in the South Dakota city of Custer.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the federal Labor Department recently secured a state court judgment against Jan Gray. South Dakota U.S. Attorney Randolph Seiler says the former employees involved in the investigation are getting the “long overdue” money to which they’re entitled.
In addition to paying the money, Gray’s three hotel businesses also must train managers and employees about their rights under the Fair Labor Standards Act, pay proper wages, maintain accurate records and not retaliate against any employee who files a complaint.
Calls to a telephone listing for Gray were not answered on Friday.
