Legislative Board Sets Study Topics Ahead Of 2016 Session
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A group of South Dakota lawmakers have chosen topics related to county government and the state’s High School Activities Association to study ahead of the 2016 legislative session.
The Legislature’s Executive Board voted Monday to approve two studies, and lawmakers are expected to choose an additional inquiry next month.
Legislators had the opportunity to vote on topics for the board to consider for study. The subjects they brought forward ranged from workforce development to the expansion of Medicaid.
The board ended up selecting the two most popular topics: a study of the functions, spending and financing of county government and a review of different aspects of the High School Activities Association such as its oversight, history and authority.
Association Executive Director Wayne Carney says he thinks the study is great.
