New Legion Hall Going Up In Wessington Springs After Tornado
WESSINGTON SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) — Crews are starting work on a new American Legion hall in Wessington Springs to replace the building destroyed by last summer’s tornado.
Mayor Melissa Mebius says this week’s groundbreaking shows how strong the town is, and the new community center will be one more step toward the return of normalcy.

Darold Rounds is on the committee charged with replacing the Legion building and says the new one will be a significant improvement, with a larger banquet area, a nicer bar and a commercial kitchen that will serve food six days a week instead of two.
The $700,000 building will sit where the previous hall did on top of the hill overlooking the city and should open sometime in November.
