Petitioner Arrested After Refusing To Leave Post Office
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A 68-year-old Black Hawk woman has been arrested after attempting to collect signatures for a petition at a post office in Rapid City.
Rapid City Police spokesman Brendyn Medina says post office management asked a group of petitioners Tuesday to stop soliciting signatures from patrons within or in front of the building. He says both parties eventually agreed the petitioners could move to the public sidewalk next to the parking lot and continue trying to collect signatures.
Medina says the petitioners returned to the post office Wednesday, and the woman refused to follow the post office officials’ orders to stay off of the property.
She was arrested late Wednesday afternoon for failure to vacate after receiving notice.
