SD PUC Postpones Public Meeting On Keystone XL Pipeline
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The state Public Utilities Commission has postponed a meeting for the public to provide input to the regulatory board on the portion of the Keystone XL pipeline that would run through South Dakota.
The commission announced Monday the public meeting scheduled for next week would be delayed because members voted earlier in the day to postpone a key hearing on whether to allow construction of the pipeline through South Dakota.
That hearing was supposed to begin next week, a day after the public listening session.
For the project to move forward, regulators must agree that conditions for construction of the pipeline haven’t changed since its initial 2010 authorization.
The commission will weigh a new hearing date at its meeting on Thursday.
