Aberdeen Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Attempted Rape

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — An Aberdeen man who went into a woman’s home and attempted to rape her has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Aberdeen American News reports ( ) that 22-year-old Julian Blacksmith pleaded guilty to attempted rape.

Authorities say the charge stems from an incident last summer. Prosecutors say Blacksmith entered the woman’s house, went into her bedroom and held her down with the intent of raping her. But the woman got away.

Blacksmith told authorities that he does not remember the crime.
