Annette Bosworth’s Election Law Violation Trial To Resume
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The trial of former South Dakota US. Senate candidate Annette Bosworth is set to begin again for jury instructions and closing arguments.
Bosworth’s trial is scheduled to resume Wednesday afternoon after a break for the long weekend.
The Sioux Falls physician is accused of election law violations that include being out of the country during a time when her petitions to get on the ballot say she was gathering signatures.
Bosworth has admitted she was out of the country at that time.
Under state law, the person circulating petitions must witness the signings from registered voters. Bosworth’s defense says she made a mistake by listening to the advice of former attorney Joel Arends.
Bosworth received 6 percent of the vote in the 2014 Republican U.S. Senate primary.
