Indictment: Lemmon Woman Provided Rifle In Manslaughter Case
BISON, S.D. (AP) — Authorities in northwestern South Dakota say the common-law wife of a man charged with killing a man in their home provided the semi-automatic rifle used to shoot him.
Samantha Briscoe was arrested Thursday after she was indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday. She’s charged with first-degree aiding, abetting or advising manslaughter.
The indictment filed this week says Briscoe provided the AR-15 rifle used to kill 32-year-old Leon Paulsen. Her common-law husband, Brady Hooker, was charged in April with first-degree manslaughter.
Court documents show Briscoe, Hooker and a witness say Briscoe brought out the AR-15 style rifle after Paulsen assaulted the men. They say Hooker took the gun from her before shooting Paulsen in self-defense.
Briscoe’s attorney said Friday she couldn’t comment before talking with her client.
