Jury Seated In Bosworth Election Law Violation Trial
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A jury has been chosen for the trial of former South Dakota political candidate Annette Bosworth.
Nine women and five men will hear the case of Bosworth, a Sioux Falls physician who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for the 2014 U.S. Senate race. The jury seated on Monday includes two alternates.
The 43-year-old Bosworth is accused of election law violations, including allegedly being out of the country during a time when her petitions to get on the ballot say she was gathering signatures.
Bosworth has said she’s the target of “political persecution” and has pleaded not guilty to six counts each of perjury and filing false documents.
Attorneys on both sides are scheduled to give opening statements on Wednesday.
