Pierre Flower Shop Fire Ruled Accidental; Cause Unknown

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A fire that destroyed a flower shop and greenhouse in Pierre has been ruled accidental.

Fire Chief Ian Paul tells KCCR-AM that the cause of the May 1 fire is undetermined.

The Pierre Flower Shop and Greenhouse had been a fixture in the state’s capital city for more than 60 years.

Wally Thomsen has run the business since he returned from college more than 40 years ago. He says the shop has been in his family since his parents bought it in 1951.
