Rutland School District Residents To Vote Again On Opt Out

RUTLAND, S.D. (AP) — People in the Rutland school district will vote a second time on a proposed opt out of the state-imposed property tax freeze.

The school board in March approved a $450,000, five-year opt out, but the decision was referred to a public vote and defeated last week.

The Daily Leader of Madison reports ( ) that the board this week proposed a $250,000, three-year opt out, and voted to send it directly to a public vote.

Business Manager Crystal Hansen says the election will be sometime in July.
