SD Man Sentenced To Life For Recruiting Others To Sell Meth
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A western South Dakota man convicted of recruiting others to distribute methamphetamine in the state has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Forty-three-year-old Luis Olivares, of Rapid City, was found guilty of multiple charges including conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in December after an eight-day federal jury trial.
Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph Seiler says Olivares was sentenced in Rapid on Wednesday.
Authorities say Olivares distributed meth with his co-conspirators in western South Dakota dating back to 2008. They say the drugs were distributed primarily in Rapid City and on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
