SDSU Professor To Get Governor’s Agriculture Award In July

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota State University Professor Bob Thaler might be the luckiest man in Deadwood on July 10.

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that Thaler will be awarded the 2015 Governor’s Ag Ambassador award that day at the Governor’s Agricultural Summit in Deadwood.

Thaler is from Brookings, and he also serves as a swine specialist for the South Dakota State University Extension.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard says Thaler has influenced young farmers over his education career and has helped beef up the livestock industry.

Secretary of Agriculture Lucas Lentsch says Thaler is a strong agricultural advocate.
